Our Values
Our work is anchored in the priorities voiced by neighbors, leaders, and partners during our 15-year neighborhood strategic planning meeting. These values are both a compass and a commitment for how we will act, invest, and measure our progress.
-
We are unapologetically committed to the well-being, dignity, and future of Black people and Black places. To be Pro-Black means we intentionally center and amplify Black life—exaggerating its presence, visibility, and leadership in response to histories that have minimized or erased it. We are especially committed to the well-being of Black women, whose care, leadership, and endurance have long sustained this community; we believe that when Black women are supported and thriving, the entire community benefits. By centering Black life in this way, we are creating the conditions for shared dignity, belonging, and flourishing for all people.
Learn More About This Value -
We see ourselves as caretakers of what has been entrusted to us—people, homes, stories, and land. We honor those who came before us by protecting this neighborhood from displacement and making decisions that will benefit future generations.
-
We believe growth should benefit the people who already live here. Our work creates pathways for neighbors to build stability, access resources, and keep ownership within the community. Prosperity is not just about income—it is about dignity, opportunity, and long-term security.
-
We believe real safety comes from relationships. By strengthening trust among neighbors, we create a community where people look out for one another, resolve conflict with care, and build a culture of belonging and protection.
-
We honor our history while making space for what is possible. Through storytelling, restoration, and thoughtful development, we protect the identity of this neighborhood while allowing it to grow in ways that reflect the community’s vision..
